Sometimes you’re behind the wheel. Sometimes you’re just along for the ride.
This month, Simply Said explores “Passenger Seat”: true stories about road trips and wrong turns, backseat drivers and copilots, surrendering control and taking it back, unexpected detours, questionable directions, and the people we trust to get us where we’re going.
Maybe you knew exactly where you were headed. Maybe the driver did. Maybe nobody did.
And, of course, not every passenger seat has four wheels. Tell us about the times someone else was calling the shots, you put your fate in another person’s hands, or life took you somewhere you never intended to go. As always, audience members can put their name in the hat for a chance to tell a true five-minute story live on stage.

DAVID ANDREWS
David Andrews is an Animation Director from the Bay Area who has brought many recognizable creatures & characters to life on the silver screen. His monsters include the martians in Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks!, Voldemort, and the Dementors in the early Harry Potter movies. He’s also responsible for Dobby the House Elf and in Disney’s Maleficent, for the three fairy godmothers. He’s been at it a while. He usually works behind the scenes, but tonight he joins us on stage to tell some stories of his own.
TIM ERENETA
Tim collects and tells obscure folktales. For more than 25 years, Berkeley-based storyteller Tim Ereneta has been shepherding giants, dragons, and talking frogs into contemporary times on stages across the country. With a knowing smile and a twinkle in his eye, Tim guides modern audiences through the twists and turns of forgotten fairy tales, stories as relevant today as they were when they were first told centuries ago.

Corey Rosen is a writer, actor, visual effects producer, and storytelling teacher based in San Francisco, California. He hosts The Moth StorySlams and GrandSlams, and has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour, Alice Radio’s “The Sarah and Vinnie Show,” and KFOG’s “The Finch Files” Podcast. Corey began his career writing for Jim Henson Productions, Comedy Central, and Lucasfilm.
